These are the public and nonprofit bodies in Arizona that help two or more owners start a business together, fund it and settle it when they disagree. Every one is free or low cost, each is public, nonprofit or university-run, and every link goes to the organization itself.

Arizona partnership rules at a glance

  • The law. General partnerships follow the Revised Uniform Partnership Act (A.R.S. §29-1001). LLCs have Arizona's RULLCA (A.R.S. §29-3101). Both LLPs and LLLPs are open to any partnership. All 50 states compared.
  • The cost. An LLC files for $50, owes no annual report and no state minimum tax, the cheapest ongoing cost of any state here. Outside Maricopa or Pima County, though, a new LLC has to publish notice of its formation in a local paper for three consecutive weeks within 60 days of approval. Fees in every state.
  • Non-competes. No statute; courts enforce a covenant only if it protects a real business interest and is no broader than it has to be. Broadcast employees are banned outright. Every state's rule.
  • When a court can end it. Arizona's list is longer than most: unlawful activity, impracticability, deadlock with irreparable injury, or illegal, fraudulent or wasteful conduct by whoever is in control. Only the impracticability ground cannot be waived. Grounds by state.
